The Florence Report from Pitti Uomo 110: Torry Milano Decodes the Organic Textures of Slow Luxury

If Day 1 of Pitti Uomo 110 was defined by loosening of meanswear geometry. Day 2 inside the Foretezza da Basso completely grounded that vision. As you walk through the gravel courtyards on this vibrant Wednesday, the focus of the international fashion community has pivoted sharply toward materials that possess a soul. The initial buzz of opening day has matured into serious runway appraisal, as editors and collectors huddle around displays that challenge how garments are aged, dyed, and worn. From the sun-bleached artistic experiments hidden in the deep warehouses to the sharp, utilitarian minimalism preparing to take over Florence's terraces tonight, today was a profound celebration of textile integrity, slow production methods, and an essential Nordic evolution that perfectly aligns with our curated philosophy at Torry Milano.

Time as a Fabric: The JiyongKim Phenomenon

The absolute epicenter of conversation this afternoon was centered in Magazzino 07, where South Korean designer and LVMH Prize semifinalist JiyongKim hosted his highly anticipated Special Guest Showcase.

Kim's entire Spring/Summer 2027 collection is anchored by a radical, non-chemical "Sun-Bleach" technique. Rather than utilizing synthetic industrial dyes, he leaves his premium base fabrics exposed to natural sunlight, rain, and wind for months at a time. The result? Completely unique, time-worn luxury garments boasting organic gradients and uncontrollable natural patterns that can never be mass-produced. For our clients at Torry Milano who demand true exclusivity, Kim’s work is the ultimate testament to slow luxury where time itself becomes the most valuable luxury material.

Sunset over the Arno: Sunflower x Copenhagen Fashion Week

As the gates of the Fortezza closed for the evening, the stylish crowd journeyed to the breathtaking open-air terrace of the Teatro del Maggio Musicale. Tonight, Pitti Immagine joined forces with Copenhagen Fashion Week to celebrate their 20th Anniversary by spotlighting the Danish brand, Sunflower, as a Special Project.

Standing on the terrace as the Tuscan sun went down, the runway delivered a masterclass in clean, high-utility minimalism. Sunflower brought an incredibly refreshing, essential Nordic reading of menswear to Florence. The collection completely bypassed temporary runway gimmicks, focusing instead on ruggedly elegant pieces built to endure:

  • The Technical Indigo: Impeccably cut, heavy-duty raw denim paired seamlessly with razor-sharp tailoring.

  • Tactile Layering: Supple, premium leather jackets styled effortlessly over fine, lightweight summer knitwear.

It provided a gorgeous blueprint for the modern wardrobe: simple, beautifully constructed garments that get better with every single wear.

The Midnight Transformation: DSM Kei Ninomiya

To close out a monumental Day 2, the fashion crowd gathered late into the night for a strictly by-invitation showcase by Guest Designer Kei Ninomiya. Born out of the avant-garde Dover Street Market universe, this presentation marked a highly significant evolution for the Japanese designer.

While Ninomiya is legendary for his complex, sculptural silhouettes, his Spring/Summer 2027 menswear collection leaned toward a remarkably accessible, ageless, and genderless dimension. Intricate, interwoven textile innovations were translated into fluid, everyday wearable statement pieces. It proved that cutting-edge design doesn't have to be restrictive; it can be incredibly transversal, comfortable, and deeply poetic.

At Torry Milano, Pitti Uomo 110 Florence reinforced our promise to you. We don't just find clothes, we seek out garments infused with genuine artistry, structural depth, and a story worth wearing.
